Traveling to Edinburgh directly from Split felt like watching the seasons change in real time. We went from island hopping in 80F and sunny weather, to exploring streets in a new city lined with fall foliage in the 60F weather. Edinburgh was a great last city for Hayley, Natalie, and especially Steph as it felt a little more like the States (Boston, specifically). Steph knew someone who studied abroad in Edinburgh, so we were lucky enough to have her recommendations to guide us during our trip.

We spent our first full day exploring Old Town Edinburgh, along with the beautiful cathedrals and shops that lined the street.

We, of course, stopped by the famous Victoria Street, to see the colorful stores along the road.

Throughout our time wandering, we were always awestruck by the beautiful views of Edinburgh Castle towering over the city. It was so easy to see how J.K. Rowling found her inspiration for Harry Potter here.

We found our way to the Princes Street Gardens and walked by all the greenery and statues the park had to offer.

On Steph’s recommendation, we traveled a bit out of the way to Dean’s Village, through a beautiful and rustic residential area nestled along a river.
To appease Hayley and Natalie’s appetite for historic tours, we walked through Holyrood Palace and were wowed by the intricate architecture that surrounded us. Hayley and Natalie splurged on the audio guide while Steph and I each took an airpod and listened to Hozier’s new album.

To satisfy my desire to be outside, we hiked Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park. At the top, we were met with panoramic views of the entire city.
Foods and Drinks

I honestly do not know name of this ramen place that we stopped into on a cold rainy day, but what I do know is that it gave Steph a run for her money. The spice level was a bit understated in the menu and Steph paid the price.
