Given the weather in Nice, we decided to escape and take a 20 minute train ride east to Monaco. Not only did this add another country to our trip, but this was very high on Drew’s bucket list because of the F1 track and casino! Given that the country itself is only 0.8 square miles, we were able to explore all of Monaco within a few hours.
The entire country is one massive hill, giving all of its millionaire residents beautiful views of the coast from their homes.

We spent a lot of time wandering along the water, googling the names of the mega yachts that were docked there and finding out who they belonged to. Turns out, we were very close to the Prince of Liechtenstein!
We were surprised, however, that the architecture and layout of the city were so similar to Nice. We were expecting the entire city to look like this shopping plaza- futuristic and upscale. The main difference between the two cities were the people- there was definitely a noticeable sense of entitlement among the employees in Monaco.

Of course, we eventually made our way to the Montecarlo. The building itself was beautiful, and we were lucky enough to go at the same time that a race (the Monte Carlo Rally) was starting!
The inside was even more stunning- I have never been inside of a more luxurious building. This was taken in the main foyer, right before security guards notified us that no photographs are allowed inside the Montecarlo (oops!).

We decided to each spend 20 euro at the casino. Drew walked away with 40 euro, and I walked away with my 0,09 euro voucher.
And last, but certainly not least: the famous hairpin turn on the F1 track!
