The last (official) destination of my post grad trip was Nice. Nice is a very small city on the Côte d’Azur, otherwise known as the French Riviera. Coming from Barcelona, Nice felt especially quaint. We appreciated the change in pace, and decided that our days of walking 20 plus miles were behind us.

Our AirBNB was right on La Promenade Des Anglais- this was the view from our roof! This street runs along the coast, and is filled with tourists during the warmer months.
La Promenade is lined with blue chairs that overlook the beach below. As Nice became an increasingly popular tourist destination, these chairs quickly became a symbol of the city and its culture.

Although the weather was not amazing during our trip, we did our best to sit outside when possible. Our Uber driver from the airport suggested that we come back in September as the amount of tourists start to decline but the weather remains warm.

Old Town Nice was our favorite part of the city. There are crowded, narrow streets filled with vendors that reminded us a lot of a more spread out version of La Boqueria in Barcelona.
The rest of the city did not disappoint. Nice is filled with beautiful architecture and busy pedestrian streets lined with cafes and bars.

Squares like Place Masséna fill Nice with vibrant colors and are home to markets in the summer!
Just down the road from Old Town lies Parc de la Colline du Château, or Castle Hill. After climbing a few flights of stairs we got the most amazing views of the city!

This park is also home to a man made waterfall that you can see from La Promenade des Anglais!
Foods and Drinks
As classic American tourists, we were not very adventurous with our food choices. We didn’t have a ton of traditional French cuisine while visiting, which was one of my biggest regrets. We did, however, stop into an italian restaurant and ordered a pizza and a foccacia to split.

We also tried our best to attend the flower market in Old Town, but given the weather there were very few vendors out. Normally, the street is lined with vendors like this, selling fresh produce, artwork, or seafood.
